Lentils as Anything

Lentils as Anything is one of a kind restaurant in Melbourne: its eat and pay whatever you want here.

Lentils was founded by Shanaka Fernando, (Who Incidentally was awarded the Australia's Local Hero in 2007) to help less advantaged to gain a foothold in the tough, effervescent food industry. He is doing great work here, check this out http://www.lentilasanything.com/ , if you wish to find out more.

Lentils as anything is a vegetarian restaurant, where the menu is dominated by vegetarian based curries. Do look out for specials such as tofu-burgers and stir fry udon. Desserts are kept simple, with delicious chocolate cakes and pancakes with fruit compotes.

So anyways, among the two of us, we ordered the curry platter, corn jacks and a slice of chocolate cake to share.

Curry Platter

The curry platter was pedestrian at most, the spiced eggplant curry was decent even though it lacks punch. The potato curry was rather bland and the "soy meat" curry will be a constant motivation for me to stay non-vegetarian.

Corn Jacks

The corn jacks, had a lovely pastry, but strangely, corn fillings were missing in at least 2 of the 4 serves. The corn jacks with the corn fillings, were lovely, light and delicious.

Chocolate Cake

This had to be my favourite thing of the night, the cake was nice and fluffy, really light very palatable. The icing on the cake, gave it a nice finish.
