Ganache

I sort of grew up having a general distaste for anything chocolate: chocolate ice-creams, chocolate cakes, hot chocolates, fudges, etc. And I get very annoyed when people express their love of chocolate, especially when they say it in a melodramatic way.

My "chocolate" trip to Ganache however, changed that. Ganache is located on the busy end of Toorak road, right on the corner of Toorak and Chapel Street. It is run by Arno Backes, you may know him, he teaches/ used to teach at CAE and he was the master chocolatier for Koko Black. He worked in kitchens in Europe before settling in Melbourne.

"Spicy" Hot Chocolate- Sublime @ $6

This trip down the chocolate lane, started off with the rather peculiar "chilli" hot chocolate. Mexican Chili is flavoured with the rich chocolate, giving it a nice stinging, spicy aftertaste. The hazelnut "Biscuit", that came along with it was delicious as well.

"Golf-ball" flanked by white chocolate slithered almond

The "second course" of this chocolate meal, we chose chocolates from the counter, we chose "golf ball", a white chocolate with halva-like fillings and a simple yet delicious white chocolate almonds. The former was adventurous and the latter was familiar and comforting.

Chocolate Tart $6.90

To end the decadent chocolate meal, we ordered the chocolate tart. This divine looking and divine tasting chocolate tart was the highlight for me, it was a art on a plate, a playful play on different texture and flavours of one basic ingredient- Chocolate. Ingenious.

Hi,

I visited your site and found it very interesting. I appreciate the way you talk about food and do the reviews on restaurants. With this, I'd like to give a $10 discount voucher to your site which your visitors could use in their take-away orders placed on Menulog (from 500+ restaurants Australia-wide). All they have to do is just type the voucher code (which I will provide you upon response to this message) at the check out.

Thanks,
Ruby Anne (ruby@menulog.com.au)
