Press Club Bar- Takeaway Souvlaki

George Calombaris's restaurant, the Press Club has won plaudits from critics in Australia and overseas alike. Entering the realms of molecular gastronomoy, George has built a strong reputation for modern Greek Cuisine. Most of you, of course might know him as of the judges for smash hit TV show MasterChef Australia. Now, George is not only good cook, he is a very shrewd businessman. For I what i assume will be a limited time, Press Club Bar, offers his take of Souvlaki for $10.

This famous souvlaki was the one of the most popular dish at 2008 taste of Melbourne festival. According to the press club website, it sold over 6000 dishes. That is quite a mean feat. Luckily for us, the Press Club Bar (next to the Press Club Restaurant), is offering it for take-away only with a bottle of EPSA soft drink for $10!

Take-away Souvlaki plus EPSA soft drink ($10)

Something different- the Souvlaki at press club bar

Even though, I enjoyed this version of souvlaki, the portion was kind of miserly. I would prefer to pay $10 for a bigger portion of souvlaki and forgo the EPSA soft drink (It tasted kinda like Sprite).

Food For thought: Apparently this souvlaki can be ordered off the menu at Hellenic Republic.
