Bamboe Cafe & Restaurant

Funny considering that I am in Australia, that i have been eating out in Asian eateries.

Maybe it reflects on the growing Asian population in Australia.

Maybe it has to with me being Asian.

Maybe it is because Asian eateries in general sell cheaper food. (I am quite broke now.)

I will let you ponder on this.

Anyways, Ade and myself went to Bamboe Restaurant at Chadstone.

Bamboe Cafe and Restaurant is an Indonesian restaurant located along of stores filled with Asian eateries (mainly Korean restaurant) on Warrigal road. The decor is very basic, service is friendly. It takes a while for food to come out though.

I have been there a couple of times, recommended by my other Indonesian Friends. Bamboe restaurant cook their food to order, no bain-marie here.

When we got there, the seats were all taken, a good omen it seemed. However, that means that food was not going to arrive anytime soon. In fact, it took them about 40 mins or so for our food to arrive.

Spicy Fried Chicken on rice

We ordered the spicy fried chicken on rice ($12.50) and nasi kuning komplit ($12.50). When the food arrived we were pretty satisfied, food was delicious. The sambal smeared over the spicy fried chicken was smoking hot. Not overwhelming though. The chicken was fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. The dish also came with salad and telor balado.

Nasi Kuning Komplit

The nasi kuning komplit is a personal favourite, i do not think the average -joe will go GAGA over this. The dish consisted of yellow rice in the middle, a fried chicken and whole range of side-dishes on the sides. The Side dishes were- Ikan teri and Tempeh ( "Anchovy"+ Fermented soy beans), Indonesian Fried Noodles, home-made sambal and green salad.

I love this dish because it transports me back to J. City. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The eclectic taste of ikan teri and tempeh complements the aromatic yellow rice well.

All in all I love, i love Bamboe cafe & restaurant for the simple, generous Indonesian food.
